[Playground] A treetop playground
A standardized tree climbing playground
Context
We have worked for the community of Portes de la Creuse en Marche as part of the development and revitalization of the Rousille lake.
The Plan de la Roussille currently has a supervised swimming area in summer, a Pumptrack, two playgrounds, a petanque court, a snack bar, a campsite and a hamlet of cottages.
Nearby is the Prugne lake dedicated to fishing with an interpretation trail on the fauna and flora.
Goals
- Integration into the landscape - The community wants a playground resembling and using the same codes as the "rope course".
- Compliance with the Playground standard (EN-NF 1176) - This standard must be certified by a control office, the play area must not require PPE or supervision by professionals during use, floor will be covered with wood shavings. The playground should be able to accommodate as many age groups as possible.
- Little control and maintenance - The playground should not require more than the annual control and maintenance visit. The maintenance of the playground should be simple and as easy as possible.
- Use of existing trees
- Theme: "castle"
Achievement
The facilities are spread over 3 courses targeting age groups ranging from 3 to 14 years old. The games are themed thanks to tailor-made products made in our own workshop.
The materials are suitable for intensive use (cabled rope, reinforced platforms, etc.). We have also integrated devices to manage tree growth without major maintenance.
The different courses have been audited and certified confirming to the Playground EN-NF 1176 standard by an independent body.
